Meeting someone new should feel exciting, not risky. Here's what Hearty does behind the scenes — and what you can do to look after yourself.
Human moderation
Reports aren't handled by bots. A person reads every one, usually within 24 hours.
Two-tap reporting
Block, unmatch or report from any chat — no forms, no phone calls, no waiting.
Before you meet
- Keep conversations inside Hearty until you trust the person.
- Video chat once before committing to a date. It takes two minutes and rules out surprises.
- Use the Share my date button to send the time, place and profile to a friend.
- Meet in a public place the first time, and arrange your own transport home.
- Tell someone where you're going, and check in when you're back.
Red flags worth taking seriously
- Anyone who asks for money, gift cards or crypto — no exceptions.
- Refusal to video chat, or photos that look professionally shot.
- Pressure to move the conversation to another app immediately.
- Requests for personal information like your address, workplace or ID.
Community guidelines
To keep Hearty decent, we remove accounts that:
- Impersonate someone else or use photos that aren't theirs.
- Harass, threaten or send unsolicited explicit content.
- Promote scams, solicitation or commercial services.
- Appear to belong to anyone under 18.
If something goes wrong
Report it in the app first — it routes straight to our safety team. If you're in immediate danger, contact local emergency services, then let us know at safety@hearty.app so we can act on the account.
