1. Who we are

Hearty ("we", "us") operates the Hearty dating application and this website. This policy explains what personal data we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

2. What we collect

• Account data: email address, date of birth, password (stored as a hash), and country.
• Profile data: photos, name or nickname, bio, interests, and the preferences you set.
• Verification data: the live selfie you submit for photo verification. It is used only for verification and is not shown to other members.
• Usage data: device type, app version, approximate location (city level), and interactions inside the app.
• Communications: messages you send to other members, and to our support team.

3. How we use it

• To create and operate your account and show you relevant profiles.
• To verify identities, prevent fraud, and enforce our community guidelines.
• To provide support and respond to reports.
• To improve the product using aggregated, de-identified analytics.
• To send service messages, and — with your consent — marketing email you can unsubscribe from at any time.

4. What we never do

• We do not sell your personal data.
• We do not show your exact location to other members.
• We do not share your verification selfie with other users.

5. Sharing

We share data only with service providers that help us operate the app (hosting, analytics, payment processing, content moderation), under contracts that restrict their use of it. We may disclose data if required by law or to protect someone's safety.

6. Retention

We keep your data while your account is active. When you delete your account, profile data is removed within 30 days; limited records may be retained longer where required for legal, safety or fraud-prevention reasons.

7. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete your personal data, and to object to certain processing. Contact privacy@hearty.app to exercise these rights.

8. Security

Data is encrypted in transit. Access to production systems is limited and logged. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to keep yours safe and will notify you of a breach where the law requires.

9. Children

Hearty is strictly for adults aged 18 and over. We remove accounts we believe belong to minors.
